Pushing from behind
« on: December 22, 2011, 09:31:02 AM »
Someone mind explaining me how it works?
I often push someone from a legit angle yet they don't lose the ball, but some times I see people pushing from totally ridiculous angle (probably at like 179°) and yet they'd lead to a ball loss.

What the fuck?

the unit type makes a difference. if a heavy unit (queen) pushes a light unit (zergling) the angle doesn't have to be as perfect and the heavy unit will win the ball.

I think he's referring to the not-so-well known secret that is unnamed but very helpful. Basically, if you push from behind and hit the enemy RIGHT as they pick up the ball, they lose it.

Also, this:

The Top push is bad, it will only push him forward and he will retain the ball. Yeah, that should be obvious. However, in the second push it can totally throw a player off guard and its hard to get all the time. I know I'm not that great at it, but it really helps turn the ball possession. The Pink lines shows that you will collide with him, even if its only slightly, but at a MUCH more favorable angle.

This is just the concept.

Just picked an example out of first replay I looked at, you should be able to figure out how its done.

One big portion of pushing not mentioned is that even if you can push them off the ball - there are ways you can push them to where you can grab the ball and they can't push you back to make you lose it.

The second part of Jegol's diagram, except if the pushing played held out for a second or two longer and pushed and then turned away from the player he just pushed - it would allow ample time to pass and be safe from an extra push - granted you're not already at your goal or something it's a good tactic.

Omg, I'd be pissed. XD
Those angles do not seem legit at all to me. But indeed, the theory makes sense.

I reread the thread, looked at the video, told myself I'd be pissed if I was you, and then read my comment that I'd be pissed.

Haha, classic payne.
